Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there a membership fee?

This organization was formed to benefit those women who want to participate in tournaments. We have expanded to include participation in the WACH league in the B1 and B2 divisions. We will go after sponsorship so our out-of-pocket expenses can be minimized. We will take care of the tournament arrangements on your behalf. We will extend any benefits that we are able to get to our members (discounts on equipment, etc.). Your membership fee tells us you are really interested and helps offset our expenses (printing, website hosting, etc.).

I want to go to a specific tournament, what do I do?

Here is one of the big benefits in membership, just advise us you are interested in the tournament emailing us. Based on interest, we will form one or two teams to participate. We'll need a deposit from you to guarantee you a spot, then we'll contact you with the recommended traveling details.

I want to play with the Cliffhangers in the WACH league, what do I do?

We invite you to email us with your interest. Teams are finalized in the August timeframe. The rosters for each team are 16 full time players (including goalie) plus up to 9 sub or part-time players.

As a member, I have a suggestion that I'd like the Executive to consider. What do I do?

Just send us an email with your suggestion. We will discuss it amongst the executive and advise on next steps. Hey, if you have a beef, speak up. The Cliffhangers can only continue to grow with input from its' membership.

What about jerseys for the tournament team(s)?

You're also in luck here. As a member participating in tournaments, a Cliffhangers jersey will be yours for the duration of the tournament.

How do I get involved?

Just drop us an email indicating your interest and specific areas you would like to be involved with. You will hear from us shortly. With your paid membership, you will be expected to volunteer to some degree (especially when we host our annual tournament). We recommend that you check with your tax representative on possible tax benefits for volunteering.

How many tournaments will the organization participate in per year?

That depends on how interested our membership is in traveling to different tournaments. If you know of a tournament that you'd like to participate,email us with the details.

Do I have to be a local resident, or can I be a member from another state?

If you are interested in participating in tournaments and there is not a team in your area, please drop us an email explaining such. We will consider out-of-state residents for membership and inclusion on our Cliffhangers tournament team.

What if I've never played hockey or am a beginner? Do the Cliffhangers encourage beginner players to get involved?

Absolutely. Our goal is to grow the sport of women's hockey in the Denver area. We encourage women of all ability levels to come out and play. Just plan to come to one of the scheduled practices (see events page) and let us know that you are just starting off. While playing on one of our two WACH teams may not be possible if you are just starting out, you are welcomed at our practices and to skate on one of our Cliffhangers tournament teams (which are made of of different players depending on interest). We would be happy to direct you to more of a beginners team in the Denver area.

How do I get a Cliffhangers jersey of my own?

If you are interested in ordering your own personalized Cliffhanger jersey, let us know (we need a minimum order of 5). Check out the Projoy Website, our jerseys are EB053WHT and EB052FOR. Sizing info is available on the site too. Socks are The old Dallas Stars colors (#506/507).
